I-GO Car Sharing for New Eastside Area Residents

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

Melissa writes in the forum –

I-GO Car Sharing, Chicago’s only non-profit car share, has 2 cars in the Millennium Parking Garage. As an I-GO member, you can use these or any of our 51 cars in the city. You never have to own a car again. We even pay for gas and insurance. Membership is $75 the first year, $25 each year after that. Usage of the car on the Standard Plan is $6/hour, 50 cents a mile. As you can see, our service can really help out a lot of Chicagoans. Please help us get the word out. We really want to help people save money, reduce traffic congestion and improve the air quality.

LED Throwies on the Bean?

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006

I found this in another forum –

Cute idea! Here’s a video showing them in action:
, and here are the instructions for
building them:

One poster writes –

They can’t be that expensive.. and it looks like a fun thing to do. I bet they would look cool on the Bean — But Park Security might not appreciate it after the $14 million they just spent buffing and polishing it. They patrol the park on souped up police Segways.. how futuristic, throwing magnetic leds at the bean and getting chased down by floating cops. I’m sure I can enlist from art students from the art institute near there..

Children’s Museum Move Community Web Site

Saturday, February 18th, 2006

Richard Ward has put up a lot of information regarding the proposed move of the Children’s Museum to the Daley Bicentennial Plaza including correspondence and notes which cover the major issues. There is an aerial photo depicting where the proposed museum would be constructed and photos of the area. There is also a poll asking web site visitors to share their views.

Documents and data may be the trickiest one to deal with in all of this, since as noted earlier, this can only be enabled on the primary account, free mobile spy which means you’ll both be sharing this across all of your devices

Children’s Museum May Move to Grant Park

Sunday, February 12th, 2006

This article in Sun-Times sums up what’s going on.

The impetus for the move is that the Navy Pier location becomes very crowded during summer months.

The museum would be underground (“below grade”) and located next to the Grant Park’s Daley Bicentennial Plaza. It is believed that traffic would flow largely on intermediate Randolph. Residents believe this could lead to some congestion at the intersection of Randolph and Michigan but otherwise the top level streets Upper Randolph, Upper Columbus, and Upper Harbor would be largely unaffected. However, the outdoor playground in Grant Park next to the Daley Bicentennial Plaza would presumably get a lot more use.

Construction would last approximately 18 mos.

New Eastside Forum Updated

Sunday, February 12th, 2006

I made from minor updates on the board including adding a logo at the top and I removed some sections including “Key Stats” and the News block which I thought were distracting and not adding much to the look of the site. Hopefully it is a little less “busy” for new visitors. I have also added a Recent Posts block at the bottom. and join in the action.

I also made a post on asking for suggestions from the experts.. what do you think? I know there are lots of different themes but it would be nice to simply modify an existing one and insert some graphics for the neighborhood in various appropriate places.

The next thing will be to update this blog with some custom graphics and make it look a little more like the rest of the site :-) .

Baby Toys

Tuesday, February 7th, 2006

I have heard people talking about there are no toy store in downtown. There was a couple a few years ago but they have been closed. We went to the Bloomingdales (900 N. Michigan) last weekend and found a baby store on the fifth floor, it was not very big, but have quite a few things, especially have lots of strollers. It is called Galt. Also, we have a website that you could come to visit and find some strollers through :

Let me know if you find the price is reasonable.

We are using Peapod for our grocery shopping and found it very convenient and less time consuming. This has really saved lots of our shopping time, plus you have people deliver to your door, you do not need to carry the heavy stuff for a long distance. As far as for price, we found that it is a little more expensive than Jewel, but if you consider the other two good points, it is still worth it. Our experience is to get lots of heavy stuff, such as water, juice, milk etc. We also like the organic brand of the baby food, our daughter likes it better than Gerber.

Let me know if you have any experience with it.

We have registered for her and started to go there three weeks ago. The first time she was so overwelmed as there are around 20-30 kids in the center and there are so many amazing toys too. She was watching at first and then try to crawl to get a couple of toys then she started to give a toy to a little girl. She like it so much to go there now and she will go to get a toy immediately. She has played with Margaret (one of the nannies in the building) and laughed so much. She also played Peekaboo spontaneously with Mark, who is just 2 years old.

Once I was sick and My husband took her there, he enjoyed watching her play. He has an important business call at 11:00 AM and had to leave although it was supposed to finish at 11:30 so he started to put her in the stroller at 10:55, she was so upset and wanted to come out and continue to play with the kids.

I highly recommend this place to kids who stay home, it is so much fun and all the people are very friendly. Plus it’s not expensive.cheapest inderalbuy propranolol canadainderal online ukinderal
If calculated properly, a well managed year gap can provide few challenging, exciting and valuable options which may be remembered forever throughout your life

Armenian Restaurant

Friday, February 3rd, 2006

We went to Sayat Nova this Sunday. It located north of New Eastside, across the street from the Nordstrom. We have been there many times, we really like the food there.

The atmosphere is like middle eastern, very dim light, lots of decorations and many appetizers. Each time we just order lots of appetizers with one main dish. The best dish I like is the stuffed eggplant, very soft and tasty.

If you enjoy smoking the Hookah, that will be a perfect place to have fun!

Our baby Elizabeth is 10 months old, she found the lentil soup is very good, she managed to eat lots carrots.
