Harbor Point and Shoreham Power Outage
Posted by Eric Frost under Lakeshore East , New Eastside[2] Comments
On Friday from around noon until 9 pm some buildings in the area were without power. It appears the construction crews working on the Tides, the new building that will go up between the Lakeshore Grill and the Shoreham hit three power cables which affected more than two dozen buildings, many of them commercial. Harbor Point at 155 N. Harbor and the Shoreham at 400 E. S Water were without water and electricity for most of the day.
Two articles on the topic:
— One in the Sun Times — http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-power17.html
— Another article from CBS2 — http://cbs2chicago.com/local/local_story_167150756.html
According to CBS2, the Swissotel offered people rooms if they were going to have to spend the night without water and electricity, something good to know to keep in the back of your mind in case another emergency happens in the neighborhood

I tried to call them during the recent North Harbor Tower outages when it was in the evening but I couldn’t get through to a Swissotel manager.
